Your professional summary is the “movie trailer” of your career. It’s the first paragraph a recruiter will read right below your name, and you have about 6 seconds to convince them to keep reading.
What NOT to do: Avoid the outdated “Resume Objective” where you state what you want from the company (e.g., “Seeking a position where I can grow”). Today, companies want to know what you can do for them.
The perfect summary formula (3-4 lines):
- Who you are: Your current title or professional identity (e.g., “Senior Software Engineer”).
- Your core expertise: Years of experience or niche (e.g., “with over 5 years of experience in Frontend development”).
- Your key skills: Mention 2 or 3 vital hard or soft skills.
- Your biggest achievement/value: Finish strong (e.g., “passionate about optimizing load times and improving user retention”).
Ideal Example: “Digital Marketing Specialist with 4 years of experience leading SEO and SEM campaigns in the e-commerce sector. Expert in Google Analytics and ad budget optimization. Proven track record of increasing organic traffic by 40% within the first quarter of management.”
